UCDesigners Go Eco Fabulous

The UC Davis Fashion & Design Society presented their spring fashion show entitled, “Inspired Innovation.” Umm, what can we say?!?! F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! A select group of *very talented* student-designers showcased their signature wares, some of which included the awesomely amazing use of: natural dyes, natural fibers, and post-consumer fabrics. Davis, baby. Yep! That’s how we roll.

It’s official: we will be back at the Whole Earth Festival for Year #4! This is our FAVORITE event of the year, so we hope to see you all there! The fun will take place at UC-Davis (Friday, May 11th to Sunday, May 13th). Bring your hula-hoop, your lawn blanket, and prepare your heart to smile! We will be debuting our *NEW* 2012 Collection, so get ready for the excitement!

The Pop-Up Shop is coming to Arizona State University!!! We will be selling our eco-fabulous glam goodies on-campus from Monday, March 12th to Friday, March 16th. We have teamed up with the a-m-a-z-i-n-g ASU Swing Devils, so get ready ASU! Eco-fashion + swing dancing= ou la la!!!

Bidding adieu to lovely India…

Bidding farewell to India after another great trip. Been working long days, everyday, so excited to get home and rest up a bit. Being here, this year, has been such a great learning experience. I have been able to discover some other cool eco-fabrics to possibly use in our future collections (such as recycled cotton and recycled chiffon) and am coming back home with lots and lots of fun new ideas. The past month has been filled with nothing but vibrant colors, music, and smiling people. I have loved every minute of it. I am already counting the days until I return…

On the hunt for recycled silk

Namaste a todos! Here in India working on the spring 2012 collection and, as always, enjoying every minute of being here. The last couple of weeks, I’ve been working hard to collect as much awesome used silk fabric as possible– but this year it’s been getting difficult. I am discovering that each year, it’s becoming harder and harder to find the amount of used silk that I’ve grown accustomed to collecting and re-utilizing. Around ten years ago, rayon become available and the trend became to purchase it instead of the more delicate silk. Given that change in people’s buying behavior, now, years later, there’s less used silk to be found– and I foresee that it will only become even more so in the coming years. So what is an eco-friendly, up-cycling girl like me to do? Well, branch out of course! This year, I will be working hard to find other types of amazing used fabrics that I can offer you, my lovely eco-trendsetters. The challenge is, as always, to try to keep it as cute and affordable as possible. I’ve got some ideas… so stay tuned!

Yay, SDSU! Thanks so much for all of the Aztec love. We are here for two more days (today and tomorrow) so come and get it while it’s hot! It’s mega bargain time, so prepare yourselves ladies!:-) Things are selling out quick… so come, come, come! Bet you didn’t know recycling could be this fun!:-)
